COPS funding - Do we want more police?

Council meets at 9 AM, Thursday, March 26th to discuss the COPS funding which will pay for additional police officers for three years with all funding to come from the stimulus or recovery act. We would have to maintain staffing levels for the fourth year.

I believe this is a good deal for our community. It will provide jobs for entry level officers who are currently in the police academy or just graduated
and it will make us a safer community.

4/24 - UPDATE - Administration agreed to apply for 10 police officers to be funded by the stimulus act. We should hear if we are receiving this funding within 4 weeks.
